Resources for tough moments

Hi friends. :two_hearts:

Hopping on here quickly to share something that helped me tonight. I’m still in the very early stages of processing this life-changing diagnosis, and as you all know, none of this is linear and it’s definitely messy.

One moment you might be tapped in to the silver lining or gems of insight you’re harvesting from your experiences.

The next you might be crying in your car, feeling trapped in your own body or like your entire life is on hold.

Whether you find yourself in one reality, the other, or somewhere in-between, know that what you feel is entirely valid. Feeling reminds us that we are human - alive, processing, adapting, growing.

I took a nature walk after work tonight and listened to this playlist. It helped.

When I’m down, I also try to remember that I’m not the only one feeling that way. So I take a minute to send some love in the directions I feel led. That usually looks like sending a picture and a few thoughtful words or sharing a playlist with a friend that comes to mind. This also uplifts my spirit.

Wondering: what helps you when you’re moving through a down moment (or day)?

With gratitude,

Rachel :sparkling_heart:

Rachel, if you have spent any time on this site, I’m sure you realize that everyone’s experience with malformation is as different as their playlist on their phone.

I finally realized that I could control how this AVM affected my life both physically and mentally. Everyone has limitations in their life. Do what you can to not let them get you down.

I used to be a runner…now I’m a pretty good walker. I used to lift up my grand kids…now they enjoy sitting on my lap. I used to be a terrible golfer…I still am. Can’t blame it on the AVM.\

Every time feel sorry for myself, I remember those who have so many more limitations than I do, but make the best of it. I am quite a bit older than you…so my playlist is mostly Bob Seger.

Best of luck to you.
