Short term memory loss

hi everyone! I had my craniotomy on May 3, 2010. Since that time, I have been experiencing

short term memory loss. My neurologist has said this is totally normal and it will get better
with time. I am starting my masters next week and wondered if anyone else has experienced
the same memory issues and when should I anticipate improvement? In order to retain the
information for school I figure I will be taking a lot of notes! thanks for any input!

Hello Brooke. Yes, I had a loss of short-term memory following my craniotomy back in 2005. I was horrible with names, would get half-way through a sentance and forget what I was saying, had a hard time figuring out how to use remote controls and things of that nature. Fortunately, I did recover over time, though I am still having a hard time with names, especially if they are someone whom I had just met.

Hi Brooke. I too experience short term memory loss. It was far worse in the months after my bleed/surgery. I still experience it and it’s been over 2 years, but it is must better! I find that it is very random. I never know what it is that triggers me not remembering some things and remembering others. It’s very strange to me. You’re still relatively early in your recovery, I would expect that your memory will improve with time.
