As it says really. They had 2 emergencies.
Initially I was really disappointed. Angry, even. But on thinking about it rationally, someone out there is having a much worse day. I’m not an emergency. Mine hasn’t ruptured.
No idea when I’ll be seen. They’re going to try for Friday next week. I’m not going to get my hopes up.
Hi Chopsie - Sorry to hear that your surgery has bee canceled. you have quite a heart to feel that somebody else needed your team of doctors more than you. Hopefully you will have your surgery next week. Make sure you stay on top of the hospital to make sure you get your surgery date and it happens. Best of luck next week and please let us know how it goes Chopsiegirl:)
Hi Chopsie-Sorry your surgery didn't happen when it was supposed to. Hope it happens as soon as possible. I totally know what it is like to have your surgery cancelled. I made it all the way to the operating room, had an art line in and then the phone rang. There was a patient in a more dire position than I. I could walk(surgery was for obliterating the avm), the other patient had a deteriorating condition. That was the explanation given to me by the other patient's doctor. It was so disappointing to get that far, but at the same time I was grateful for the kindness and empathy given by the staff and for the recovery I already made(had a rupture and that's how they found the avm). My surgery eventually happened a couple of weeks later. The waiting plays with your psyche. Whatever hopes you do have, I hope you keep them. Take care.
Hi Chopsiegirl. I commend you for your attitude and I continue to believe there is a reason for everything. In June of 2013, I spent 3 hours at the hospital getting prepped for stereotactic radiosurgery including having an IV inserted. Well, the neurosurgeon came to me horrified because the halo could not be located. So, my husband took me back home and I had the procedure a month later. As someone wrote to me via e-mail, then the procedure was not meant to happen that day and fortunately, I had the radiation in July of 2013 with good results. Take care of yourself, Chopsiegirl.
Gutted for you, we also had the same thing happen with Mollie's Gamma Knife. We stayed overnight in London got to the hospital the next morning all geared up for it to be told it had been cancelled. I'm sure the wait won't be too long for you, keep strong xxxx
This happened with my son's embolization. I'm glad you are taking it in stride, Chopsie. It's hard when you steel yourself up for something and then it doesn't happen. Friday next week is soon, though -- it will be here before you know it.
Hi Chopsie, Unfortunately these things happen, Its not nice to have it happen especially when your all ready to go . Try not to get sad as it will happen sooner rather than later. Take care and keep your chin up :) and let us know how things turn out.
Hi....it takes a lot of courage and maturity to show empathy for others when we ourselves are waiting for help......hang on.....wishing you good luck for your surgery :)
my operation was cancelled twice on my 3rd date my AVM was finally removed i know how u feel i felt the same but i decided it was obviously cancelled because i wasnt meant to have it done @ them times!!!!!!!! hope yours doesnt get cancelled again good luck regards amanda
Hi.
Well so far it’s been cancelled for a second time and I miss out this week as it’s Easter.
The earliest it’ll be now is the 10th of April.
Keeping fingers crossed but not getting hopes up too much.
Hey ho!
Chopsiegirl, you have nerves of steel. You should be proud of yourself for taking it in stride. I try not to worry about things I can’t control, so you’re an inspiration to me and I’m sure to many. May it happen soon, Chopsiegirl!
Hi CHopsie- On your previous post, I said you had a really positive attitude about your surgery being canceled and I will of course say it again. I am sorry that you did not have your surgery the other day and I certainly hope that April 10th is the day. Sometimes doctors only have surgery on certain days too, so there's that. However, please make sure you stay on top of the hospital to in fact get a surgery date. All then best and hang in there Chopsie. Please continue to keep us posted.
