Swelling?

Hello I hope you are all doing well! So I’m 8 months post my cyber knife treatment and from time to time I’ve had headaches and neck pain, I have a right cerebral AVM and it always went away with paracetamol. The last three days the pain starts from above my neck but left side and I can feel it in my left shoulder-back,and it doesn’t go away with pain killers but just for a little while.I m waiting for an answer from my doctor but I wrote here in case someone has experienced the same thing. My last MRI was very promising as it had gotten smaller they couldn’t find it but the doctor said that there is no way is gone so soon, and he didn’t trust the mri scanner s (?) quality, and we are doing another one in December.Im now worrying for complications…

I’m sorry to hear about the issues this is causing & hope someone here can offer some assistance, however the medical team dealing with your treatment will be the best ppl to seek the right advice from… God bless!

Thank you for your response. My doctor said that it doesn’t sound like swelling or something caused from the AVM,most likely muscle pain that reflects the pain to the head.He told me to take some medication and see how it goes and today I’m ok.I guess we will see!

My reading of these things is that things do start to change at about this point in treatment and most people who’ve had gamma knife start to have weird sensations. The different issues do vary and I’ve no direct experience of them so it is best to talk to the doc about anything that is worrying.

I think it is fair to say that even the most alarming headaches can often be “nothing to worry about” but it’s much better to ask the doc to be sure.

Very best wishes,

Thank you Richard! Most of us worry with anything at this point but reading about its others experience helps a lot. I worry about having swelling and not noticing it .:joy: I don’t know if that’s even possible…

I don’t think it is sensible to worry about stuff that you can’t even detect! That way madness lies (though I know we all understand the worry)!

I am sure the only thing to do is to talk to the doc about stuff you notice that seems worrisome but I am sure lots of people can tell you that they’ve been through things that subsequently turned out to be insignificant.

Hang in there. You’re doing great!
