TGIF! Alcohol question?

Can someone tell me with certainty, which LOBE alcohol affects? or is itall? we all know the Motor Cortex becomes impaired and visually, I am assuming Occipital. But about cognition must be Frontal? All this i am piecing together! But i am hoping someone has some actual medical evidence or documentation-- NOT just estimations please!!!
Cheers,
Nicole

A roundabout answer: If you are taking anti seizure meds, they clearly state that taking alcohol might cause the medications to NOT control seizures.

Now does that mean you cannot drink if on these meds, probably not. But our DR said 1-2 drinks was probably ok, but getting plastered is not a good plan on the meds.

No estimates, facts from our DR, and reading the labels of several anti-S meds.

Ron, KS

I'm only aware of a few facts of alchohol:
#1 - It lowers the oxygen levels in your blood. In which it lowers the oxygen supply
to your brain.
#2 - It thins your blood down.
#3 - It lowers your blood sugar level

The lack of proper oxygen to the brain and the sugar levels dropping is why people act "funny" when they are drunk. The more a person drinks, the worst they get. There is less, and less oxygen going to the brain.

Nicole, Crazy, but since my brain bleed, I haven't wanted to drink. Reading what Ron wrote and because I am on an anti-seizure med, it probably isn't safe to drink alot of alcohol.

Thanks all for the wealth of information, and the lack of judgement! FOR the record; Nicole is COMPLETLY UN-Medicated ! I bagged my Keppra a year after the bleed/Grand-Mal! With my neurologist's approval, we used a 'step-down' approach. And to date, almost 3 years post-bleed... Nicole is both drug free and Seizure free.... Hence, the need for an occassional drink! and soon -to-be husband-free (he didn't 'sign'- up' for All this...!) Nothing like a cold beer on a sunny afternoon! But thanks Ron, the 02 description is an eye-opening/ yet creepy deterrant! always good to have my facts straight!

Nicole
