The Auto Accident

It was last year, in May, and wife and I were driving
west towards the hills in the central part of our state,
and I was driving. Came around a curve and there was
a line of a truck and four cars coming towards me and
in my lane a car was coming towards me trying to pass
them all and it was a marked no passing area. A driver's
nightmare to me.

I slowed down and the oncoming vehicles continued towards
me. The car passed them all and then tried to go back
to their lane, but they struck my mini-van on the left side
as they went by. My tire there was destroyed and the fender
there and door were mangled. But we were OK. Van was
dead "in the water". All cars went on by and went out of sight.

But the passing car was also mangled and could not get far, and one of the witnesses remained also. With my history of
memory loss from my AVM, I was afraid that if I was brought to the witness box no one would believe me. The at fault driver came and told us that she had already called the police, and we told her that we had also. She didn't seem pleased by that.

The police came and talked to us, and the witness backed us
up and my wife was a witness, and all said what I did.
My van was still on the road right in my correct lane
and that helped too.

My van was taken to a dealership and in time was repaired very well. The at fault lady's insurance did not want any
part of a trial and agreed to pay all of my van's
repairs and in time all was restored. Including my
confidence in my memory.

Oh, and my insurance agent later asked me to report any physical injuries at all for us from the accident, but I reported none. She told us that there are always at least minor injuries from an accident of this intensity, but I had none to report. Right after the accident I had a couple twinges of pain in my back, but that ended and have had no more. It is not right to make up something and so we did not. After surviving an AVM, a little accident is not as bad as surviving that!

Yow, John, thanks for sharing this stressful experience. Thank God your wife and you were ok. Yay for the restoration of your confidence in your memory.

Thank you, Susan! This was nothing as bad as going through an AVM, and bleed,
and all but I wanted to mention it.
