Recently I talked to doctors about my upcoming operation,
now scheduled for early spring. It is not a critical
operation, like to save one from a cerebral bleed caused
by an AVM, like too many of us here have been through.
But my operation is lengthy due to the size of what is to
be removed.
My surgeon sent me to another doctor who quizzed me on
my past. Am I strong enough to survive being "out"
for 4 or 4 1/2 hours? They are talking about being out
with anesthesia during the operation. I didn't have to
think about it long and I told him that I had been out
before for an 8 hour operation. For what he asked and
I told him for brain surgery, and he was impressed. And
it didn't kill me, I added. He asked how long ago, and
I told him 12 years. I also had another unrelated smaller operation where I was also put out for a smaller amount of
time maybe 10 years ago.
So hopefully they believe that I can live through another
operation, and I intend to show them that I can.
This is about the only advantage to having had an AVM
cerebral bleed, that I recall ever being told about.
For you dear reader, I wish you the same as I wish
for myself...no more operations related at all to
AVMs!
