Hi everyone , my friend came across this movie on Netflix and I’m probably late with sharing this but for those of you who are unfamiliar, the movie is about a an AVM survivor. As soon as my friend discovered this movie, he immediately called me crying . I’m sure many of you would be interested in watching it if you haven’t already so I thought I’d share
Hi Monica another member recently mentioned this also, I watched it in the last few months, Its a good movie with a happy ending which is always nice :) , But what I would say is that anyone who hasn't had there treatment or still has an AVM this could be an emotional movie to watch, Corey's story is a hard one, But the underlying message is his strength is great :) , For anyone who watches this I hope you enjoy it
Hi Monica, thank you for this posting. I did view this movie on Netflix and as a survivor, I thought the movie was very well done. I did cry watching the movie but as my family and friends would comment, I cried easily before my brain injury so I considered the emotion more healing. For any middle aged and older members, Beau Bridges is an actor in this movie.
Monica- thanks for sharing this. I will have to look it up on Netflix!
I definitely agree, it’ll hit hard since many of us can relate . It’s definitely nice to see someone go through something similar on TV, isn’t it? Lol
Lol oooh I can relate ! Hey, us girls can be sensitive ! So what? Lol you gotta let it out, right,
glad you can enjoy the movie ! Please let us know what you think after watching
Yip I agree and it made me start looking in the news feeds for other people with AVM's that have made the news in there areas :) , For such a rare disease it sure effects a lot of people :(
Do you think this movie would be too much for a 14 year old?
Hi momo, not at all.
Thank you for telling me about the movie. I’m watching it a little at a the, but it looks good so far.
no problem ! Glad you can go and watch it
Thanks Monica! I watched half the movie on Saturday with my little sister, we both cried of course, but I am anxious to finish watching it, and I do agree, awareness is so important and so is validation, so watching a person with the same condition as yours have similar emotional and physical experiences can be a little validating and cathartic. It also lets us know that we are not alone and that is pretty empowering. :-)
Is that the name of the movie the Corey Weismann story??? I am an AVM survivor I am still currently fighting my AVM and I would love to watch this movie!!!
Hey mica ! I’m glad you were able to watch it with your sister . I totally agree as well. It’s pretty comforting
Hi Nicole ! It’s titled " 1,000 to 1" Enjoy
I enjoyed the movie overall! I ended up watching it on Amazon. The only part that was really hard for me to watch was when he was having his brain bleed- I related to that part a little too much. It was good to show to my family because they weren't there when it all first happened, so they could kind of know what it was like for me at first.
Ok, I saw the whole movie. It was pretty good. To an outsider, it might appear too sweet, but I could identify with much of his problems.
I checked up on the story. An article showed close agreement with the movie, http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/7607463/college-basketball-emotional-return-court-gettysburg-college-cory-weissman
Thank you.
Hi Armand ! Thanks for sharing ! My best friend didn’t really understand what I was going through until he discovered the movie and shared it with mr, he even cried ! Thanks for sharing the article, I’m going to check it out
Hi ninibeth ! No problem, hope you enjoy it
