Since my brain bleed, I've been on an anti-seizure meds for 2 1/2 years. Is there anyone whose Doctor told them they no longer needed to be on anti-seizure meds? If so, did you feel better after you stopped taking it?
I tryed to take less anti-seizure med and had a seizure. Very scary! So after my meeting with my neuro doc. I know that I have to stay on it probably forever...
I have been told I can stop taking anti-seizure medicine. I am gradually reducing the dosage. I feel more energetic on the days I take half of the Kepra. But my right eye ocacionally twitches or has small uncontrolled movements. No one notices but I feel it. I also feel tightness in my head. I am considering on staying on the kepra a little longer.
Hello Louisa, My neurologist has advised me to stay on the Keppra for life as I have a lot of brain tissue removed due to the AVM being much bigger than they expected. I still have ‘spikes’ in the brain and he feels that if I stopped the medicine, I would have seizures. I will be having EEG’s regularly because of the ‘spikes’ so I figure it’s better to be safe than sorry. Good luck Lousia and keep us posted, Lesley.

Louisa, I didn’t know you’d had a seizure. I’m sure that was unbelievably scary for you. Are you ok now? Yup, stay on those meds. for as long as it takes!! Love you, my friend!
I would love to be off of Keppra and Tegretol seizure meds but having seizures is worse than the side effects of the medications. I was told even if they can oblierate the AVM I will always have to take seizure meds. My hope is that I could at least decrease the dosage.
Maria…The sympstoms started so fast. I just saw bright lights and then couldn’t talk. Thank God I was on the phone with my daughter and she called 911. I was in the hospital when I had the seizure…so the symptoms lasted quite a while before I had the seizure…so at least you can get help before you have one! Not like my brain bleed, where I just passed out. I am going to stay on my anti-seizure med for the rest of my life because it is very scary to have one.
Thank you for describing the symptoms. It seems like taking the medicine is not an option. Thank god your daughter was with you and that you are fine. Take care.
