Please share any advice

Hello, I have a brain AVM. Two years ago, after a seizure, I had an angiography and then radiosurgery. They couldn’t remove the malformation completely because it’s too large — doing a trepanation would have too many risks, from disability to even death.

After two years on neuroleptics, my doctor scheduled another MRI to check the situation. I feel anxious sometimes, because there’s a chance of another seizure. I’ve read that many people wear medical ID bracelets with their diagnosis on them. It seems like a useful thing. But in Korea, they don’t really have that. So I started wondering if there’s something else I should know or do.

Please share any advice.

I also realized that, just in case, I should give my parents the password to my bank card. Also thought about this: if something happens to me, I would like to be an organ donor.

Btw how often do u do MRI?

Im sorry to hear about your diagnosis & curious if you are taking any medication for the seizures?

I would still think you can wear a bracelet & even possibly add something to your smartphone in the event of an emergency… I’m confident someone here will be able to provide better detailed information… In regards to the MRI question I was getting them done annually when getting my check ups… God bless!

Thank you, Adrian🙏🏼

Yes, I take Keppra (Levetiracetam 500mg).

Initially, the doctor said I would take the medication for a year, but I’ve been taking it for two years now. And neuroleptics to control emotional state and intracranial pressure.
Could you please tell me where do you usually buy such bracelets?

I have attached a link for you to consider. I use one know on my watch strap that has my name, date of birth, and my wife’s name and phone number. I have used other types of bands to that identified contacts. Now it is mostly in case I crash my bike as I ride a lot, but also should I ever have a second seizure(hope not) while in public where no one knows me. The watch strap tag works great.

In most mobile phones these days there is a “safety” or “health” app. I use an android phone, so mine has a “safety” app. If I add my medical details into there, people can access the information from the emergency call access on the lock screen. So that’s something you can do.

I bought one of these silicone bands, which was very comfortable to wear and perfectly ok 24h a day, in the shower etc. I am sure they post abroad to wherever you are.

They have different styles to sit whatever you’d prefer.
