Symptoms after spinal avm embolization

Hi all, I have a spinal avm from t11-s3 with both intradural and extradural components. I suffered a brain haemorrhage last year due to my spinal AVM rupture as the blood traveled to my brain, the doctors didn’t perform any embolizations as they said it was risky, I had no complications after or before the rupture. In june this year i had an embolization wherein they targeted and embolized some extradural and perimedullary avf/avm, whatever could safely be embolized, since day 1 i had excruciating pain which subsided. The weakness and stiffness/spasticity and urinary incontinence are some symptoms which started immediately after the embolization and i had no symptoms prior to it. I have no changes in my avm after the embolization. Will these symptoms ever get better or progressively worse

Hi Sanyaa,

They get better and you can regain your health , although this can be a slow process. PT/OT is the key , if you are strong enough for it.

It took me 8 years to get better . I have a near normal day now.

Best Wishes,

karthik

Hi Sanya,
I also went thru spinal wvm n diagnosed major avf at t6-t7 in mri March 2022 , my neuro Surgeon suggest full major long spinal surgery n removal for complete disconnection of avf here in toronto.
Yes Fitsula didnt recur again since almost 3.5 yrs but partial paraplagia in lower limbs still exist with other issues like nerve pain etc etc. altho i can walk n drive as well but nerve pain n other issues seems ll last till end :joy:

Anyway i feel much blessed to do most of my things with little despression n disability .
Health is the real wealth of life.
Avm/avf recovery very slow .
Regards
Syed
