I understand your point about it being too graphic and not encouraging conversation. I had not considered that until you mentioned it (which is why it’s so great to have so many people sharing their opinions and revealing all angles! )
I was trying to think of an easy ‘buzzword’ that people could associate with AVM’s and that is why I thought the use of the word tangle - or untangle - might be an easy way to remember what an AVM is.
I would be happy with ANY of the ideas that have been mentioned (yes, even the jackass one!) and I will purchase whichever shirt is selected for myself and my family.
I’m SO happy to have found this group and am so impressed with all of the members that contribute in so many ways. Finding all of you has made me realize that I am not alone in this journey and that support is available with just a few simple clicks at the computer.
God bless each and every one of you.

Untangle the mystery- to graffic I think!!! I feel it won’t make people ask any questions. Where as MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE WITH AVM AWARNESS, says it’s WORLDWIDE & can effect anyone of us. So people would be more inclind to be curious don’t you think??. And ask " WHAT IS AVM??. I have asked friends who haven’t a AVM, " What would catch their eye". & the response was all the same. Make the world etc, etc. Difficult area, I guess you won’t be able to please everyone heh!!!. Keep the good work up guys, tricia
as soon as the design is set and ready to go to press, i would like to have a layout so i can get it set to embroidery… would like to digitize it so i can put it on hats and other stuff. let me know if you can send me a good color pic via fax or snails mail… mail would be the best for color and layout size to be perfect … thank shalon
My husband had a clever idea for an image to go with “Untangle the Mystery”. He drew a profile of a person’s head and then had a tangle of question marks inside the head. I know that doesn’t address the issue of not all AVM’s being in the brain but it might prompt people to ask questions.
What do each of you hope to accomplish with this t-shirt? Are you hoping that it will draw the attention of strangers and provoke them to ask what AVM’s are? Are you hoping that it will stand out in someone’s mind so that even if they don’t have the time/courage/ability to ask you about it when they see your shirt they will be curious enough to do their own research?

I love the make the world a better place slogan. lovely colours, i think it would be really eye catching. what a FANTASTIC job you have done !! Hurry up may 3rd !!! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Jenny, there is a woman on Facebook who makes “awareness bracelets” and her color for AVM is purple, but I don’t know if that is an official color. I would think that a mixture of red and blue should be the colors - to represent arteries and veins!
FYI, Shalon and I have talked about revising and narrowing the options. She’s out of touch with medical procedures, but we’re on it! Sorry for the delays.
Let me know how much are they and I can send you the money or funds for these darn t-shirts. I can not make it to SanFrancisco but I will support the shirts. eeeehhh!!!
The slogans so far that rock are avm-untangle the mystery but with a absolutely different picture on it…the other one that is cool is …Walk, Don’t bleed… actuallly the second one rules… Not really sure what the picture should be, but the words say everything… Maybe make the wording extremely large… just a thought
Thanks everyone- just wanted to let you know that we have narrowed down to 3 options and will have a final vote coming soon! I’ve updated the note above with more details!
This is awesome Shalon! Thank you for doing all of this. I know that Ben will have some great graphics and I can’t wait to VOTE! I will work on getting those sponsors!
My family and friends have also asked that maybe I come up with a personal shirt would this be an infringment if I took yours and just made it say his name on the back. I would send all proceeds over the cost of the shirts to the organization or to who ever.
Well I don’t think it is an infringement per se… Although the more shirts we sell and order, the cheaper the cost per shirt and ultimately the more money goes to TAAF. We would like to get as many as possible to purchase this shirt and of course want to add individuals names to the back.
I did get your email yesterday as well. I’m sorry I just haven’t had a chance to respond!!! I’m actually “sneaking” online again while at work.
