T-shirts! AVM Walk in May- Final Voting Coming Soon

How are the t-shirts coming along? Will we be ordering them directly through this site or are you going to have them made and sold through some place like cafe press? Thank you Shalon and everyone else for all of your hard work on this. I still don’t know for sure if I’ll be at the walk but I AM sure that I’ll be ordering shirts for family and friends!

Shalon and I talked on Sunday. Here is the latest with the t-shirts. In about a week, I’ll create some designs, then we’ll vote, then Shalon has a t-shirt contact who will polish the design and either print them or upload to CafePress for us to order. Thanks for following up.

Great! I’m so excited!

You two have been working so hard and I absolutely do NOT want to complicate ANYTHING but I am curious about something so I’m going to ask. If you use Cafe Press wouldn’t that allow us the option of purchasing additional items with the design? I would love a sweatshirt (in addition to the t-shirt) and a hat would be cool as well. I understand that spots are being sold for Doctors and sponsers for the t-shirt which is a fantastic idea and I assume it would be just as easy to include them on sweatshirts as well, but if that is too pricey, sweatshirts without that info and just the logo would be awesome.

If we used Cafe Press the amount of items that could be available with only the design/logo would increase tremendously AND the items could remain available year round. This would allow for fundraising to occur 365 days a year. Items such as coffee cups are terrific to have on hand to give as ‘thank you’ gifts or stocking stuffers.

Again, I do NOT want to complicate anything and do not want to make any additional work for anyone - I just thought it would be great to have additional items with just the design/logo and be able to purchase them year round. Just my two cents - and I doubt it’s even worth that!

Christine

I think Cafe Press is great. Maybe we’ll ask the t-shirt contact if he can just help us polish the graphics then we put it on Cafe Press…

Shalon, what do you think?

In theory Cafe Press is great! And I think we SHOULD add more items eventually, maybe based on some of the othe designs that were in the running… I know I would love to have more AVM stuff to promote awareness and this website.

But for this fundraising effort, we will “make” much more to donate to TAAF if we go through my Tshirt guy to produce them. I did a quick look at Cafe Press and the cheapest cost for the shirts was 17.99 for a white T with graphics on front & back. With my Tshirt guy they should be less than $10.00 (cheaper as the # of shirts increases.) So the potential fundraising from a $20 Tshirt is >$10 where with CP it would be $2.00.

Unless you know something about fundraising with Cafe Press that I don’t, it doesn’t seem to be the best option for this particular event.

And once this event is over, we can post a bunch of different AVM Tshirts and other items on Cafe Press for people to buy for individual use.

So that is my thought on why we should not use cafe press for this particular fundraiser but SHOULD use it for other items later on!!!

I did a quick search at Cafe Press and using their free shop you can sell up to 80 of their items. I didn’t realize all of the items that they can personalize with a design/logo - bumper stickers, note cards, journals, wall clocks, tote bags, dog bowls, pillows! Not saying we should have the logo on all of those things but I know that I would definitly purchase items year round if they were available. And since Cafe Press items are available to everyone, people that know nothing about this site could stumble across the items and purchase them.

I have an amusing story about cafe press. My husband, Rantz, is creative director for a company that makes video games. About 8 years ago the company he worked for was asked to make part III of a game that they weren’t involved with for the first two. Throughout production the company was active on message boards releasing bits and pieces of info on the progress, release dates, etc. When they released info that introduced new charachters coming out in III that would be replacing some charachters from I and II, some of the fans of games I and II were freaking out and saying that everything good was being deleted by Rantz. It became so much of a running joke that people asked for ‘deleted by Rantz’ merchandise! The next thing I knew one of my husbands coworkers had set up a shop at Cafe Press and was selling everything from t-shirts to thong underwear with the phrase ‘deleted by Rantz’! I’m not sure how much money his coworker ultimately made but about a year ago I discovered that the merchandise was still available and I ordered a bunch of sweatshirts and other things for my family and friends. I bet the co-worker that started the shop (who is no longer with the company) was probably very happily surprised to suddenly be getting a check for something that he had probably totally forgotten about!

This is really awesome! Really any of these slogans are going to be great, I think. I’m leaning towards Untangle the mystery with AVM awareness. I will be back on again to purchase when the votes are in and the design is set up, and hopefully get more people in on this!

Let’s work it guys all together

Shalon, I had no idea that cafe press was so expensive! You are absolutely right that we should go with your guy - it’s a no-brainer!

ya, I did try to see if there was a way to produce them cheaper on CP, just didn’t find anything. I think the price is totally fine if we are just wanting to buy things for ourselves…like your funny “deleted by Rantz” story!!! I loved that!

But as a way to raise money…not ideal.

How did you find the quality of the things you bought? We purchased some shirts years ago and they were a little on the low side. Although for $15 what do you expect? But I was wondering if since it was bigger and more popular now if the quality had gone up…

ha ha ha no brainer… ha ha!

im interested

Have we decided yet on the final t-shirt design? Where do I send my $ for my shirt?

T-shirt design is still in process. We should have 3 designs to choose from next week.

Have you found a vendor yet for the t-shirts? There was one featured on Friday on one of the morning TV shows here - My Fox Boston. It is called SpreadShirt.com. Seems pretty simple to do. It is kind of like a CafePress.com. Just a thought!

Thanks for the idea, we’ll check 'em out. Initial designs are days away.

I like help untangle the mystery…
You have to be careful with the slogan rights if your slogan is too close to someone else’s like the “Got Milk” , etc…

also one other thing, because AVM’s can happen anywhere I don’t think the picture should be of a brain in particular…just my .02

Voting is on! Click here to see the graphics, place your vote, and pre-order your shirt!
