Has anyone had multiple uterine AVM procedures and ended up needing a hysterectomy? Or how many embolizations did it take to treat your UAVM?
I am scheduled for my 4th embolization and I believe this is the last time my Dr wants to do the procedure. He is highly experienced with treating these and he says mine is tough to treat.
I am hoping for some positive stories. My AVM is the result of a missed miscarriage 4/2024.
Hi Stacy and so sorry to welcome you to our special group of people from all over the world. We will keep you in our prayers for a successful treatment!
Hi! I have a congenital pelvic AVM, which is quite different even if in roughly the same location. I have had multiple embolisations and I am being treated at the Royal free in London. Where are you based? Could you travel to a more specialised centre? I believe that acquired uterine AVM can usually be excised because they don’t have that many feeders and they do not have the !genetic urge" to grow back. I may be wrong but I would certainly look at second opinion before having anymore treatment, especially if, based on your lack of enthusiasm for an hysterectomy, you may be looking at further pregnancies. Best of luck.
