What age were you?

Hello friends. I am just curious as to what age y'all were when your AVM was discovered? I was 12 when I went through all of this. I am now 25. February 8 will make 13 years for me. I have come a long way in 13 years. I have good days and definitely some bad days but I am thankful for everyday. :-)

I bled 10 days before my 25th birthday in august 2014. I just had the embolization and craniotomy two weeks ago and am recovering. It’s great you are doing well and God will keep on blessing you!

Two days before my 38th birthday. I am 41 now. Only had a seizure. No bleed.

Hey. I am 33 - found out by CT not long ago. Had symptoms for many years. Treated with embolization so fare. Next step is GK within 3 weeks or so I think.

I was 35 years old ,Brain hemmorage on one AVM . They found 3 more and they removed them with Gama Knife.

Hello !!! right back to you

My avm was not discovered util it ruptured. I was 26 years old and had just delivered my first child , 5 weeks before this happened. Feb. 21st will be my 26th year on the journey of avm survival. I'm 52 now.
I too have come so far, further than they ever expected of me.

You bet, good days and bad days, still part of my life. They just don't show up as often as they did before. My bleed left me starting all over again, just about the same as my new born daughter.

I have; left Homoymous hemianopsia, Seizures - but under control. the basic and severe, "tbi." stuff as well.

I too am thankful for everyday. My belief is that in some weird way, I may have become a better person while on the road to recovery..... even though there are days that take me down, I have more of them on the up swing. Yahoo . I used to morn the loss of the old me , AAA - LOT, but now. I really like the strong person that stands before me in the mirror. Ya, sure I'd like all my sight back, sure I'd prefer: to be free of some, of the things I carry in , what I call my suitcase of life. But then I'd not be this new ME !

Having worked hard to re-obtain my drivers license was long - but good , as it has made me a much wiser driver, to not rely on having all the visual field most have, gives me comfort that I will always stay focused and never drive on days that are not, my top of the game days. We have a cattle Ranch, I have stepped outside the box and started competing with Border Collie dogs, hearding cattle and sheep. This does pose a challange at times as my depth field is a little messed up and if I loss track of the dog and stock, I can lose out pretty quick.

Oh what the heck eh. I do it for fun, and it really challanges my brain. I am also starting to write my first book on. My journey of brain surgery, hoping to bring more light onto the areas of after care, for the family / care givers. Public awareness that we all don't look the same, we are just injured by the same intrusive three letters.....

AVM. So life is good and I just push forwards now instead of worrying about what may not happen , just what will. Thanks for the post and allowing me to chit-chat.

I am 32 and had a bleed Nov 2014 with no idea I had an AVM.

Hi, Rancher. I commend you for this supportive reply to Spots02. Yay for you in being thankful each day! I understand your preference would be to not have this condition but again yay for you in appreciating the new you!

Hi Spots02. Thanks for this posting and I was 53 which I know was out of the average age range. I am thankful for every day too so yay for you!

Susan, Thank you so much......... sometimes I get going on what I think is to be a quick note, but then get carried away. when I've worked so hard to type it all out........ somehow , I can't erase it and just make that quick note, if you know what I mean. Lol

Hello, I was 29 when my avm ruptured. Wishing you more good days.

Hi. My son was 11 years old when his AVM burst. He is 13 years old now.

Hello! It has been a long time since I was on this site. Just going through some of the e-mails. I was 57 years old when my AVM was detected (2007). Prior to my accident, I had noted this irritating sound (aka bruit) in my left ear. I was never in any physical pain; just that annoying noise; it was blood travelling to my brain. I did not have the embolization done until Feb. 2008.

If you have an opportunity read my story!

I am prayerful all is well with you! Just be certain to ASK questions!

Take care.
