Anti seizure meds

I was diagnosed with an avm in 2010. I started 500 mg of keppra twice daily. I experienced drowsiness and fatigue. 2 years post removal of my avm my neurologist determined I should stay on anti deizure medication, despite complete obliteration.I stayed on keppra until about 6 months ago when switching to vimpat 150 mg twice daily (vimpat is a controlled substance due to its sedating side effects, made no sense to me). I experienced similar side effects so I requested a med change. I’m my first week of taking trileptol and I’m experiencing dizziness, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. Has anyone had this much trouble with side effects and ever found a medication without such undesirable side effects? Or did not take any anti seizure med upon successful removal of their avm and remained seizure free?

Hi Daniel, reading through some of your posts and comments and just came across this one. My husband took Keppra after surgery (complete obliteration)same dosage as you. Instead of drowsiness, he manifested aggression and mania. I spoke to the doctor and we discontinued the meds. I think because of the AVM location, they didn't think there was as much risk of seizure, and didn't prescribe something else. Today is three weeks post surgery and he's still doing just fine, except for the personality change. He's not as bad as he was on the Keppra, but he's still "different".

Hi Daniel, I was on the same dosage of Keppra. After almost one year of stroke and feeling just fine, I almost stopped Keppra. I never felt any drowsiness because of KEppra. But I had a seizure last week after stopping Keppra. It was a bad experience. Back on Keppra now and feeling as earlier, although under constant fear of Seizure
