Pills (Keppra)

Hello everyone :slight_smile:
Ive been on pills called Keppra (750mg) and i feel my mood has been changed so much and ive been depressed but thank god i’m not i’m thankful and happy with everything i have :heart: is anyone going through the same ? And are those pills really good?

Hi Reem, I take Keppra also, I take 2 x 500 mg each day, one morning and one night. For me I have no noticeable side effects. These pills are for the sole purpose to stop seizures, they are not supposed to change your mood from sad to happy or happy to sad, If you have any side effects from your meds you should speak to your doctor :slight_smile: , Hope you find what answers you are looking for, Take care

How long are you taking them or have to take them ?

I take Keppra 2x500mg/ day. at first I was irritable with keppra but my body has adjusted to it somewhat.
I get a little dizzy and tired about 3 hours after I take it but no other side effects.
Keppra controls my seizures without damaging my liver like Dilantin did.

Hi Reem, I have been taking them since Jan 2014 so a little while now and plan on taking them for the rest of my life, even though I’m low risk of a seizure , I have had 2 in the past and know I’d make ch rather take 2 pills each day than have another one ! :slight_smile:

Hi Reema I also take 500 two times daily . When I first took it I had trouble focusing and was super tired but 7 months later I just get a little sleepy and dizzy sometimes. I would rather have this than seizures.

Hello Reem I also take Keppra 1500mg since the year 2000. When they first started me on Keppra I also had depression that and was very tired for some time but your body will get used to it. It took me a little while but also was just 10 years old at the time and my body was still growing. just take your time and stay positive. Good luck to you.

I started off on Keppra and I had some of those things too. I’m not for sure if it was the medicine or just adjusting to my new normal lifestyle. I had to switch medication because I continued to have seizures even if I upped my dosages. U will get better, it just take time. God is good all the time.

Hi Reem!
I take 2500 mg of Keppra a day and I have experienced some irritability. I do know that it is a very good anti seizure medication with very few dangerous side effects and goes well with other medications. Depression, anxiety,irritability are the few. My doctor added a very minimal (5mg) dose of Lexapro and it seems to have done the trick and also combats some of the tiredness that comes with taking that much Keppra. Hope that helps. God Bless.

I take one tablet in the morning and 2 tablets at night. My neuro said that they can affect mood and you can switch if you need to. I have been on Keppra for about a year and I will say I think that in combination with the steroids I’m still on have made me more depressed
